AVAGO 8-Gbit/s transceiver targets Fibre Channel

Source: | Publishing Date:2008-01-07

The AFBR-57D5APZ is said to be the industry’s first 8-Gbit/s small form-factor pluggable (SFP) optical transceiver for Fibre Channel applications. It handles link lengths up to 150 m and uses an 850-nm VCSEL source.

The transceiver is designed to be compliant with FC-PI-4 standards over multimode optical fiber at signaling rates from 8.5-Gbit/s to 2.125 Gbit/s without the need for external rate select inputs. It provides real-time temperature, supply voltage, laser bias current, laser average output power, and received input power diagnostic information and operates from -10° to 85°C at 3.3 V.
