Maxim DAC simplifies power supply adjustments

Source: | Publishing Date:2008-02-22

Ideal for dc/dc power-supply applications-such as servers and video-processing cards, the DS4412 sink/source current D/A converter features two output channels that are designed for power-supply margin testing and adjustment. Each output channel provides control of a dc/dc power supply by sinking or sourcing current directly into the power supply’s feedback node.

The full-scale output currents are set between 500 μA and 2mA using one external resistor for each channel. Through the I2C bus, the output currents can then be set to any of the 15 linear sink or 15 linear source steps up to the maximum full-scale value.
