Catalyst Semiconductor Quad-mode LED driver delivers efficiencies as high as 92%

Device offers 10% higher efficiency over three-mode charge pumps

Optimized for applications with one bank of five or six identical LED channels, the CAT3637 quad-mode LED driver offers 10% higher efficiency (up to 92%) than three-mode charge pumps. Aimed at portable device backlighting applications, the device incorporates a simplified version of a 1-wire EZDim interface, which supports 16-output power levels, from from zero to 30-mA full brightness at 2-mA resolution steps.

Its fourth charge pump mode achieves 1.33x boost mode with only two flying capacitors. The CAT3637 is housed in a 16-pad TQFN package.
