Wireless sensor network is known as one of the most influential technologies in the 21st century. It is one of the four high-tech industries in the world in the future. What advantages does it have in innovation, and how to quickly build a WSN?

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is a distributed sensing network that uses a large number of stationary or mobile sensors in a self-organizing and multi-hop wireless network to collaboratively sense, acquire, process and transmit. The network covers the information of the perceived object within the geographic area.


Eventually, this information is sent to the owner of the network, which includes the necessary components such as on-site wireless sensors, data forwarding gateways, and monitoring hosts.

According to the human perception function, the wireless sensor can be roughly divided into a wireless gas sensor, a wireless pressure sensor, a wireless temperature sensor, a wireless temperature and humidity sensor, a wireless liquid level sensor, a wireless wind speed sensor, a wireless flow sensor, and the like.

WSN is not simply understood as the use of wireless communication methods for multiple wireless sensor nodes to network, transmit and collect data, etc., WSN has its own characteristics and advantages.

Large network scale (multiple number of nodes)

For example, fire monitoring of forests and grasslands, monitoring of wildlife activities, and monitoring of environmental conditions often require a large number of wireless sensor nodes, and the layout range is far beyond the scope of the general local area network.

Advantages of arranging a large number of wireless sensor nodes:

Improve the accuracy of overall monitoring;

Reduce the exact requirements for a single node;

The existence of a large number of redundant nodes

makes the system more fault tolerant.

Self-organizing network

Different from the layout of the local network, the location of the wireless sensor nodes cannot be determined in advance (the personnel are randomly arranged), and the mutual neighbor relationship between the nodes cannot be determined in advance. Therefore, the nodes are required to have self-organizing capabilities and can automatically perform configuration management.

In a hybrid network, the routers form a mesh structure, and the terminal presents a star-shaped distribution around it. Routing relays extend the transmission distance of the network and provide the ability to tolerate faults. When certain routes have problems or strong interference, the communication path is automatically adjusted to ensure that information arrives.

High reliability: Wireless sensor networks have stronger communication stability than ordinary LAN P2P:

Reliable network structure: self-organizing network and dynamic guarantee that basic information transmission is normal;

The software is reliable and the information is confidential.

Data-centric: Devices such as terminals, hosts, routers, and servers all have their own IP addresses on the Internet. To access resources on the Internet, you must first know the IP address of the server hosting the resource. So the Internet is an address-centric network.

The wireless sensor network is a task-based network. In the WSN, nodes are also numbered. But whether the number is unified throughout the WSN depends on the specific needs.


Compared with wired products, wireless sensor network products have the characteristics of low cost, wide range, flexible layout, and mobile support. Industrial wireless sensor network products are used in mechanical parameter detection, industrial monitoring, intelligent power, mine safety, medical health, environmental monitoring and other industries. Applications have been widely recognized; at the same time, industrial wireless sensor network products are also facing market challenges such as extending node working time, increasing communication distance, miniaturization, standardization and other technical challenges and finding application scenarios.
