The Lithuanian Science and Technology Innovation Agency announced recently that Lithuanian researchers have developed a new blood analysis sensor that can take certain parameters of the blood without invading the skin.

According to the Lithuanian Science and Technology Innovation Agency, this laser-based blood analysis sensor was jointly developed by the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences and a Lithuanian technology company called "Brois Semiconductor". It can be installed on smart phones, smart watches and other devices to continuously detect the level of glucose and other components in the blood without piercing the skin.

According to Nirvanas Danbruskas, a professor at the University of Health Sciences in Lithuania, this blood analysis sensor can help to quickly diagnose acute infections, sepsis and other diseases, as well as monitor the blood flow of different organs in the body. Once put into use, it can greatly facilitate the chronic diseases such as diabetes that require daily monitoring of blood changes. Athletes can use this sensor to monitor physical condition and prevent sports injuries.

For patients, blood tests using this sensor are not only painless, but also avoid the risk of infection from blood draw. In most cases, it can achieve the accuracy of routine blood tests. Because of its ease of operation, the patient can monitor changes in specific components of the blood and pass the data to the doctor via software.

Currently, this blood analysis sensor is still in the laboratory test phase and is planned to be launched to the market two years later. Next, the R&D team plans to let this smart sensor ¡°learn¡± the blood data of healthy people and accurately predict the relevant diseases by comparing the measured data with healthy people.
