Providing a drop-in dc solution that does not require any redesign of existing ac-input racks, the SFD550-12BG dc/dc power converter uses the same packaging and backplane connectors as the ac-in SFP450 and SFP650 front ends. The 314.5 x 78 x 40-mm device takes from 40 to 75 Vdc and provides a 12-Vdc output at up to 45 A with a standby output of 3.3 Vdc at 3.1 A.

Other features include an I2C interface for status and control, NEBS Level 3 compliance (GR-63, 78, 1089), internal ORing diodes, and a two-speed fan that reduces acoustic noise. The RoHS-compliant converter is also protected against output overvoltage, output overcurrent, and overtemperature conditions.
