The AP1533 is a 300KHz, 1.8A Asynchronous PWM Buck Converter with soft-start function, low ripple noise output, low current consumption, high efficiency and excellent transient characteristics, ideal for use in a wide range of computing and consumer electronic applications. This high-efficiency buck converter has a wide input voltage range of 4V to 23V, an adjustable output voltage from 0.8V to 23V, and is well suited for applications like LCD monitors, TVs, DVD/PVR players, set-top boxes, xDSL modems, and networking and telecommunications equipment."The introduction of the AP1533 converter is a solid example of our commitment to continue to enhance our power management product portfolio and we are already experiencing strong customer interest in this device for use in high volume consumer electronic devices like LCD monitors and DVD players," commented Mark King, Diodes' Sr. VP of Sales and Marketing.
The AP1533 DC-DC Buck Converter's duty-cycle varies between 0% and 99%, depending on the output voltage. It can provide a low noise output current up to 1.8A over a broad range of input voltages. In addition, the voltage lockout circuit of the AP1533 assures that the built-in high-side MOSFET driver remains in the off state whenever the supply voltage drops below 3.3V threshold resuming once the supply voltage rises above 3.5v. This makes the AP1533 ideal for today's energy efficient and environment friendly requirements. Additional features that increase reliability are thermal shutdown and short circuit protection, as well as current limiting.
Offered in the small, thermally enhanced SOP-8L package, the AP1533 is pin-compatible with the already popular AP1513 DC-DC converter. It also supports a wide operating temperature range from -25 degrees C to 85 degrees C.
