Chipset exceeds 20-Mbit/s sustainable throughput

Consisting of the BCSB200 baseband IC and the BCSR200 RFIC, the BCS200 WiMAX chipset demonstrates maximum HARQ (hybrid automatic repeat request) performance specified in the WiMAX profile, exceeding a sustainable throughput of 20 Mbits/s when operating the chipset in “Category 4” HARQ mode (the highest-performance HARQ mode in the WiMAX Forum Profile). The BCSB200 baseband IC is a highly integrated, software-programmable, multifunction digital-analog mixed-signal IC that implements IEEE 802.16e scalable OFDMA PHY and MAC functionality.

The BCSR200 radio IC is a direct conversion transceiver designed for 802.16e WiMAX applications. Features for the radio include support for 2- and 3-GHz bands and flexible channel bandwidths of 5, 7, 8.75, and 10 MHz. The chipset also supports integration of dual receive chains and a single transmit chain operating tightly coupled to deliver a low-power SIMO (single-input multiple-output) and MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) MS solution. The entire PHY, MAC, and RF functionality of a Mobile WiMAX terminal is implemented by this chipset.
