The MAX16821 synchronous high-brightness (HB) LED driver offers rapid current pulsing and is capable of driving common-anode LEDs. Features include a switching frequency from 125 kHz to 1.5 MHz, a temperature range from 40 to 125C, and an operating voltage from 5.4 to 28 V with an LED current-sense voltage of 0.03 V.

Additional features include programmable hiccup, overvoltage protection, reverse-current limit, and an output-enable function. For systems requiring multiple drivers, the part also features a clock output with 180 phase delay that can control a second, out-of-phase LED driver. Housed in a 28-pin TQFN package with an exposed pad, the MAX16821 also features a unique pin configuration capability that allows the device to be operated in either synchronous buck or synchronous boost mode.
