The MC9S08DZ 8-bit microcontroller features a CAN interface, an EEPROM, and on-chip emulation/debug tools. The 0.25-µm-process device has 40-MHz core speed, 20-MHz bus speed, up to 60 Kbytes of flash, and 2 Kbytes of EEPROM. It operates from -40¡ã to 125¡ãC.

The chip also has 4 Kbytes of DRAM, a real-time clock, a 10-bit A/D converter, and a built-in temperature sensor. It has a low-power real-time interrupt, up to two analog comparators, up to two SCI interfaces (LIN master functionality and wakeup from stop mode), an SPI interface, and two very-low-power stop modes.
