Asahi Kasei EMD today launched the AK4671,a one-chip stereo CODEC with Dual PCM Interfaces New!
Tokyo, Japan, July 11, 2007—Asahi Kasei EMD today launched the AK4671, a one-chip stereo CODEC featuring dual PCM interfaces for mobile device applications such as smart phones and portable navigation devices. The AK4671 is the newest line-up for Audio2go™ products.
The AK4671 is equipped with dual PCM interface to take an interface between a stereo CODEC and a base band IC/Bluetooth IC in case of recording and playback of voice or music. The PCM interface block integrates a sample rate converter which allows asynchronous mixing of audio and PCM data and makes the AK4671 ideally suited for an application such as a Bluetooth headset.
Incorporating AKEMD’s advanced ALC circuit, the AK4671 can automatically adjust the recording volume of MIC or the output volume of music source used for cell phone ring tones. The AK4671 integrates a circuit that emphasizes “the stereo experience” by clearing up the sound source when stereo music is played on devices with extremely small speakers, such as cellular phones. The AK4671 also has a built-in 5-band equalizer for high-quality audio player.
The AK4671 further provides a four-input selector that supports a multiple number of analog sources, pop-noise-free stereo headphone amplifiers, general-purpose A/D converter for DC measurements, a power-supply management function permitting ON and OFF control of circuits block by block, and the microprocessor interface that supports both four-wire and IІC bus.
The AK4671 provides sampling rates from 8kHz to 48kHz (PCM: 8kHz). The operating voltage of analog section ranges from 2.2 to 3.6V and digital section operates from 1.6 to 3.6V.
The AK4671 is available in a 57-pin BGA package whose 5mm × 5mm dimensions contribute to the downsizing of mobile devices. Evaluation boards and samples are available now.
