Foxconn opens first software base in China
After signing a letter of intent with the municipal government of Nanjing, China early this year, Taiwan-based Foxconn has unveiled its first software base in the mainland, according to a report from ChinaTechNews.com.
Foxconn CEO Terry Kuo disclosed that the company chose the less developed Pukou district of Nanjing for its new facility to coordinate with the local government's planning. The Foxconn Nanjing Software Base will be engaged in wireless communications networks, enterprise information security and medical software.
The company targets to recruit 30,000 software engineers in five years for the Nanjing base to provide software talents for its branches throughout the country, according to media reports. The base is now operational with more than 200 software developers
