Motorola to slash 15% R&D expense on mobile

Speaking at its annual analystday, Stu Reed, Motorola's head of handsetbusiness, disclosed that the company is targeting to cut its quarterly R&D expenses for mobile devices by 15 percent, according to a Reuters report.
Reed said that the move is intended to help the company return to profitability but that Motorola will make sure that it will not to hurt its handset development. He explained that the company will not lower its R&D but just make more efficient spending.
