High-voltage IC drives high-speed MOSFETs and IGBTs for lighting and heating applications

The FAN7371 high-voltage gate driver IC (HVIC) has 4-A current-driving capability used for consumer and industrial applications. The high-voltage IC saves at least 50% of the board area used by optocoupler-based or pulse transformer-based solutions, and it eliminates a buffer transistor used in other low-current HVICs on the market.

The device increases reliability by providing undervoltage lockout and a built-in 25-V shunt regulator. Additionally, it features the industry’s lowest temperature dependency, with an operating ambient temperature range from -40° to 125°C, ensuring stable performance against fluctuating temperatures in harsh environments. To enhance efficiency, the gate driver offers a floating channel designed for bootstrap operation.

A high-voltage process and common-mode noise-canceling technique provide stable driver operation even at high-noise instances. The HVIC can drive high-speed MOSFETs and IGBTs that operate up to 600 V, including plasma display panel, high-intensity discharge lighting, and induction heating applications.
