Single chip incorporates CPU, 600-MHz DSP, video coprocessor, conversion engine, and I/O

Targeting the seamless transfer of content for media gateways, multipoint control units, digital media adaptors, video security DVRs, and IP set-top boxes, the TMS320DM6467 DaVinci processor is tuned for real-time multiformat high-definition video transcoding. The device integrates an ARM926EJ-S core, a 600-MHz C64x+ DSP core, a high-definition video coprocessor, a video conversion engine, and video port interfaces.

The chip is said to deliver a 10-fold performance improvement over previous-generation devices while using just one chip instead of three. The IC can perform simultaneous, multiformat HD encode, decode, and transcoding up to H.264 HP at L4 (1080p 30fps, 1080i 60fps, 720p 60fps).

The device has two 8-bit BT.656 or one 16-bit BT 1120 capture and two 8-bit BT.656 or one 16-bit BT 1120 display video ports. A full development environment and middleware software are available.
