2.7-GHz 60-dB chip responds in 500 ns

Claimed to raise the bar for accuracy and speed, the LT5570 RF detector provides accurate rms power measurement of a 40-MHz to 2.7-GHz ac signal over 60-dB dynamic range, even with a modulation crest factor of up to 12 dB (as might be found in WiMAX, W-CDMA, or satcom applications). Features include a full-scale rise time of 500 ns and a measurement accuracy of ±0.5 dB over both its full dynamic range and a temperature range of –40° to 85°C.

The detector’s rms conformance accuracy is typically within 0.2 dB, compared to that of a continuous waveform power, while its linear dc output is proportional to the input power in dBm with a scaling factor of 36.5 mV/dB typ. Additional specifications include an operating voltage of 5 V, a quiescent current of 26.5 mA, a shutdown current of 0.1 μA, and a minimum sensitivity of 53 dBm at 880 MHz. Housing is in 10-lead DFN packages.
