Samsung notebook battery melts

A battery in a Samsung Electronicsnotebook was reported to have melted last weekend. Company officials and the South Korean fire department told Reuters that the notebook emitted smoke after being used for about 3.5hrs on a pillow.
James Chung, Samsung spokesperson, confirmed the notebook was a P10 model manufactured in 2002, but he did not name the battery maker.
Millions of faulty laptop batteries made by Sony Corp. have been recalledsince 2006 by PC makers, including Acer, Lenovo, Dell, Gateway, Fujitsu and Toshiba, after they were found to overheat and pose fire hazards.
