Device enhances medical and industrial systems by achieving 15 ENOB and 2.5 times faster sampling rate than competitors

Housed in a 5 × 5-mm 32-pin QFN package, the AD7626 PulSAR A/D converter is claimed to achieve a new level of 16-bit data-capture performance, with a 15-bit ENOB and 10-Msamples/s throughput, which is 2.5 times faster and 70% smaller than competing offerings. Unlike other ADCs, which operate at much lower speeds or reach higher sampling rates by increasing power consumption and trading off ac and dc performance, the device has a 92-dB SNR that is 8 dB (1.3 bits) better than any ADC, regardless of architecture.

In addition, the AD7626 consumes 130 mA and uses a self-clocked LVDS bus that provides a very-low-noise interface and reduces the number of external components required to address board-level noise concerns. Also available, is the AD7625, a 16-bit PulSAR ADC that operates at 6 Msamples/s. (Ea/1,000: AD7626, $34; AD7625, $32 available now.)
