DACs simplify power-supply adjustments
Housed in a 14-pin TDFN package, the DS4422/DS4424 sink/source D/A converters use a current change at the feedback node to manipulate the power-supply output voltage, thus allowing the devices to be connected to an existing power supply without redesign. These I2C-controlled, 7-bit current DACs feature two (DS4422)/four (DS4424) output channels that are specifically designed for power-supply margining and adjustment.
Also, the parts use an external resistor to program the full-scale current for each output from 50 to 200 μA with ±6% accuracy. The I2C bus can then be used to linearly set the output currents to any of the 127 sink or 127 source steps up to the maximum value. (ea/10,000: DS4422, $0.53; DS4424, $0.67 — available now.)
