Non-contact rotation angle sensor EM-3242

  • This is a non-contact rotation sensor utilizing multiple hall elements formed on a silicon substrate.
  • Combined with a disc magnet polarized in the radial direction, the sensor IC provides a non-contact rotation
    angle sensor solution.
  • It can detect a rotation angle in an absolute angle.

  • Hall elements and a signal processing circuit are formed on a substrate (1-chip monolithic)
  • Long life and high environment resistance due to contactless rotation angle detection
  • Ratiometric analog output
  • Angular resolution: 0.36° (10 bits)
  • Operating voltage: 2.7 to 3.3V
  • Small temperature drift (+/-1° max.)
  • Operating temperature range: -30 to 85°C
  • Micro 6-pin package, 3.6 x 3.0 x t0.95 mm (3.6 x 4.2 x t0.95 mm including lead wires)

As shown to the right, the sensor IC can be used simply by locating a radially polarized disc magnet above or below the sensor with a gap.
With such a simple layout, you can create a system detecting absolute angles in a contactless manner.

<Measurement conditions>    
 
  • Magnet : Neodymium magnet (Residual magnetic flux
    density: Br = 1250 mT)
    7.0 dia. × t2.0 mm (polarized in radial direction)
  • Layout : Gap between magnet and sensor package:
    4 mm(This causes 30 mT to be applied to EM-3242.)
    *No eccentricity in magnet rotation.
    Sensor center aligned to rotation center.
  • Peripheral circuit : A 0.1 mF bypass capacitor is connected between Vdd and Vss.
    Magnet rotation : Measured in 1° increments up to 360°
