ST upgrades advanced inertial measurement unit Unico GUI software Simplifies somatosensory custom design flow

China, April 16, 2019 - ST's Unico GUI software supports its latest Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), including the recently announced LSM6DSO and LSM6DSOX two 6-axis IMU modules, which greatly simplify finite state machines and The logical configuration of the machine learning kernel (FSM and MLC). Users can run gestures and motion recognition algorithms directly in the sensor through FSM logic to perform always-on convenience services and low-power functions. MLC implements a machine learning classifier for always-on motion and vibration mode real-time recognition.

Unico GUI (STSW-MKI109L Linux, STSW-MKI109M Mac OSX and STSW-MKI109W for Windows) can be configured with IMU module internal registers and embedded FSM and MLC logic, so users can quickly create their own motion recognition algorithms. In addition, the GUI easily integrates input data from internal accelerometer and gyroscope data with external sensors (eg, magnetometers) for more sophisticated context awareness.

When used on smartphones, wearables, or industrial equipment, FSM and MLC can be used as embedded low-power gesture and motion recognition engines to maximize user interface functionality and context-aware applications while the main processor is asleep Battery life. The LSM6DSO state machine logic contains up to 16 independent state machines. Each state machine can generate a hardware interrupt signal when triggered by a specific motion mode. The LSM6DSOX adds machine learning classification multi-stage decision tree logic.
