Ericsson awaits China 3G licensing in 2008

EricssonCEO Carl-Henric Svanberg said at an investor conference that it still expects China to grant 3G mobile phonenetwork licenses in 2008, according to a Reutersreport.

In June, China released guidelines for the development of 3G technology, a month after it approved the CDMA2000, W-CDMA and TD-SCDMA standards. Svanberg estimates that China will award licenses for both W-CDMAand China's homegrown TD-SCDMAstandard some time next year.
