The SY87725L single-chip programmable SerDes transceiver supports multiple Passive Optical Network (PON) standards and rates, including asymmetric GPON with data rates up to 2.5 Gbits/s receive and 1.25 Gbits/s transmit. The device targets fiber-to-the-home and fiber-to-the-premises markets.

The chip has complete clock recovery and data retiming circuitry, along with 4-bit serial-to-parallel/parallel-to-serial converters and a transmit side synthesizer. The part operates on a single 3.3-V supply with 1-W typ power consumption, and comes in a 10 x 10-mm EPAD-TQFP64 package.
