Capable of 50-mA output currents from inputs ranging from 2.7 to 5.25 V, the AS1301 is an inductorless dc/dc boost converter. It offers low-noise constant-frequency operation from light to higher loads. The 1-MHz switching frequency allows the use of two ¡Ü220-nF flying capacitors and two ¡Ü2.2-µF bypass capacitors.

Providing a regulated output, the AS1301 fits a variety of applications such as alkaline, NiMH, and Li-ion batteries, as well as 5-V boost conversion in portable devices. It features up to 92% efficiency and a <5 µA in shutdown mode. The converter also offers soft-start, overload-protection, and thermal-shutdown circuitry. Available in a 10-pin TDFN or 8-bump WL-CSP package and is suitable for operating environments ranging from -40 to +85C.
