OSD generator integrates EEPROM
The MAX7456 single-channel on-screen-display (OSD) generator integrates an EEPROM to enable 256 user-programmable characters and graphics for on-screen display. The part eliminates the need for an external video driver, sync separator, and a video switch.
Features include an SPI-compatible serial interface, selectable brightness by row, display of up to 16 rows x 30 characters, and blinking, inverse gray scale, and background-control character attributes. The device’s video-driver output has a gain of 2 V/V with a 6-MHz large-signal bandwidth and can drive two 150-Ω video loads. The MAX7456 accepts standard NTSC or PAL CVBS signals and is offered in a 28-pin TSSOP package.
