Fairchild Semiconductor¡¯s Green FPS Power Switches Increase Efficiency and Reduce EMI in Power Supply Designs

Fairchild¡¯s proprietary valley switching operation enables the MOSFET to turn on with minimum drain voltage and offers inherent frequency modulation resulting in a dramatic reduction in EMI noise. Additionally, it also enables these converters to perform soft switching, therefore increasing power conversion efficiency while drastically reducing heat generation. The hybrid control technique makes the power switch operate in continuous-current-mode (CCM) at low line and in valley switched discontinuous-current-mode (DCM) at high line, preventing any power deterioration at low line operation.

The Green FPS FSQ0765Rand FSQ0565Ralso ensure system reliability by offering excellent surge characteristics as well as various protection features including overload protection (OLP), over-voltage protection (OVP), abnormal over-current protection (AOCP), internal thermal shutdown (TSD) with hysteresis, output short protection (OSP) and under-voltage lockout (UVLO).
