Intended for notebook computers, the 15.4-in. 300-nit LCD with active LED backlight operates on 40% less power than a typical LED backlight. The active LED backlight illuminates the WXGA screen selectively, according to the image being displayed, so the LCD consumes 2.0 W or less when playing an international standard video.

With the active backlight, light areas project varying degrees of light while dark areas are turned off, not only reducing power consumption but also improving the contrast ratio to 10,000:1, 10 times that of a typical notebook.
